First Achieve is partnered with a leading plant hire and equipment solutions provider that is looking to add experienced Plant Fitters to its growing Plant Operations team.This is a hands-on, workshop-based role where you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy plant machinery. You'll play a key role in ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready for hire, supporting projects across a variety of sectors.The OpportunityAs a Plant Fitter, your expertise will be central to keeping the hire fleet operational and performing at its best. You'll be responsible for diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring preventative maintenance standards are met. Your work will directly contribute to minimising downtime, maintaining customer satisfaction, and supporting the overall success of the hire operation.Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair faults across a wide range of heavy plant equipment, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, and generatorsCarry out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment operates safely and efficientlyIdentify potential issues before they become major faults, reducing downtime and costly breakdownsPerform hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic fault-finding and repairsComplete accurate service reports, maintenance records, and parts documentationWork independently and collaboratively with colleagues to respond efficiently to maintenance requirements and breakdownsAdhere to all health and safety procedures, maintaining safe working practices at all timesCommunicate effectively with management and customers regarding equipment status and repair progressMaintain high workshop standards and ensure tools and equipment are kept in good conditionContribute to excellent customer service through professional workmanship and a proactive approachWhat We're Looking ForRelevant engineering qualifications such as City & Guilds, NVQ, HND, or equivalent in Mechanical, Hydraulic, or Electrical EngineeringProven experience working with heavy plant machineryStrong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systemsExcellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and troubleshooting abilitiesStrong communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearlyCustomer-focused attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality serviceAbility to work independently and as part of a teamProactive approach with a strong focus on safety and qualityWhat's on OfferPermanent, full-time positionWorkshop-based role with a well-established and growing businessOpportunity to work on a varied fleet of modern plant equipmentSupportive team environment with opportunities for ongoing development and progressionCompetitive salary and benefits package
