Project Manager - Engineering & Manufacturing
First Achieve Engineering are proudly supporting a leading UK-based manufacturer in their search for an experienced Project Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex engineering projects for high-integrity equipment used across sectors such as Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Nuclear and Water.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will be pivotal in driving operational excellence - ensuring all projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in line with customer expectations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate internal and external activities, proactively manage risk, and maximise project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of projects, tracking progress, budget, and risks while liaising with Operational Management to align internal, supply chain, and subcontract activities with contract schedules and budgets.
- Monitor project performance against contract plans, taking appropriate corrective actions to meet timelines and margin expectations.
- Identify and assess contract risks/opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Provide regular contract status reports and support formal reviews in line with milestone schedules.
- Lead post-project reviews and "lessons learned" sessions to inform future improvements across sales, engineering, purchasing, and production.
- Contribute to the development of standardised project management processes and tools.
- Support bid activities by evaluating compliance, risk, and planning requirements, setting up frameworks for delivery.
- Ensure full compliance with client specifications and relevant industry standards.
About You
- Degree, Higher National Qualification, or Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering, Project Management, or relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in project management within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
- UK Passport holder (dual nationality is acceptable, but primary nationality must be British).
- Excellent knowledge of project and risk management principles.
- Strong commercial awareness and sound decision-making ability.
- A confident communicator with effective interpersonal skills across all levels.
- Proactive, motivated, and team-oriented.
- Ideally certified as PRINCE2® Practitioner, APM PMQ, or equivalent.
